INSERTION MODULE

Fission's playout module can work based on either internally generated logs, using built-in scheduling tools, or by importing 3rd party traffic system logs. An intuitive graphic interface enables the operator to reschedule events on the fly by easily searching and accessing media for last minute changes. Trim editing tools provide the precision required for visually adjusting the length of such media even while On Air. Automation is achieved through frame accurate playlists with embedded commands for bidirectional GPI triggering, external device control (VTRs, routing, console switchers), real-time graphics (logo, clock, text) and video compositing. Live content can be seamlessly sequenced or composed with digitally stored material at any moment.

CAPTURE MODULE

Based on the information contained on a daily log, this module highlights the capture tasks required for completing transmission material on a given day. Content catalogues provide the necessary information for fully automating the ingest process, by creating accurate batch capture lists. Last minute manual captures can be fine tuned with built-in NLE tools. Then, the newly captured media can be linked to an already existing content profile. Although Fission is primarily designed to perform in a tapeless environment, several features broadcasters using tape, like user bit-based tape catalogs, either imported or internally created, as well as time code breakdown tools for program segment definition. All the capture operations performed by this module are recorded in Fission's database for further reports.

FEED CAPTURE MODULE

As the basis of Fission's tapeless operation, this module automates prescheduled, unique or periodic, extended media captures. If required, the module is capable of handling the recording of such events through the use of external devices, like tape recorders and routing switchers. Every event added from any Feed Capture Module is available to all other stations for assignment. All file capturing and tape recording activities are thoroughly logged for future reports. It is possible to create virtual segments, from either captured media or recorded tapes, and link them to existing content profiles for future broadcast. This process can be done with the aid of an external shuttle device to increase accuracy and speed over extended media captures.
